Privacy
This tool runs entirely in your browser. Your files are never uploaded to a server, never stored by PDFZova, and never shared with anyone. Closing the tab discards them. The only exception is if a future tool is explicitly labelled as server-processed — this tool is not one of those.
Frequently asked questions
Do you store my password?
No. It is used once, in your browser, to open the file, and never saved or sent anywhere.
Why is text no longer selectable afterwards?
Unlocking rebuilds each page as a picture, which removes the text layer. That is the honest cost of removing the password in the browser.
What if I forgot the password?
PDFZova cannot recover it. Only the correct password opens the file.
About Unlock PDF
A password you set yourself should not lock you out of your own document. Unlock PDF opens a password-protected PDF you own and saves an unencrypted copy, using the password only inside your browser — it is never uploaded, stored or sent anywhere. Because pdf-lib cannot decrypt protected files, the result is rebuilt from rendered pages: its text is no longer selectable, and the file may grow.
